Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of employee motivation on organizational performance with particular focus on ower Holding Company of Nigeria in Jebba District office. The major aim is to establish the relationship between the two variables (motivation and perfomance). Employees from four different departments of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) was used in the study. Questionnaire was used to gather data from the respondents. Regression analysis and Chi-square statistical methods were jointly used to test the hypothesis raised. The major findings are that employees’ motivation enhances performance, also employees’ training, promotion, improvement in salary and work environment was found to be positively related to performance. The specific conclusion among others is that employee motivation enhances firm performance. This study recommends among others things that PHCN should make the motivation of its employees a habit, so as to achieve improved performance in the 21st Century.
