Effects of Blockchain Integration on SMEs’ Accounting Accuracy and Fraud Prevention: An Empirical Analysis

This study empirically examined the effects of blockchain integration on SMEs’ accounting accuracy and fraud prevention. The study specifically investigated whether the adoption of blockchain-based accounting systems improves the reliability of financial records and reduces fraudulent financial practices among Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). The study adopted a quantitative research design and utilized primary data collected through structured questionnaires administered to SME managers, accountants, and financial officers. A sample of 150 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression techniques. The results of the analysis revealed that blockchain integration has a positive and statistically significant effect on accounting accuracy among SMEs. The findings also indicated that blockchain technology significantly enhances fraud prevention mechanisms by improving transparency, traceability, and security of financial transactions.
