Abstract

This study examines fiscal federalism and resource control issues in Nigeria with a view to resolving the ethnic tension in the country. Data used in the study were obtained from Nigerian government institutions, moving averages. Student ttest and Pearson correlation coefficient were the statistical tools deployed to test the available data for the study. The work reveals that concentration of resources in the hands of the central government resulted in sub-optimum economic growth and that there was no significant difference between revenue allocated to oil and non-oil producing States of the country during the period under study (1960 to 2008) hence there was no impetus on the later to look elsewhere for revenue.
